BFF 2025 Awards Night ginpabugal kalantipan sang lokal nga sine

The second Bacolod Film Festival, with the theme “PANAN-AW: Local Frames, Global Change!”, held its Awards Night last November 29, 2025, at SM Cinema 1, Bacolod City, concluding the three-day showing of short films from selected Bacolodnon filmmakers.
Tonton, directed by Charlene Mead Tupas, took home the Best Picture award, having four awards in total, including Best Actress para for Maria Victoria Mendoza, Best in Cinematography for Giles Gelvoleo, and Best in Production Design for Rowena Tupas.
This short film tells the story of Vicky, an eatery owner, and her tedious days with her tiresome partner, Tonton.
Picture 2: Dranreb Cimatu of Tililing receives the Best Director award.
Tililing also reigned victorious, bagging six awards, including Best Director for Dranreb Cimatu, Best Supporting Actress for Errol Filoteo, Best Screenplay for Kiefer Occeno, Best in Make-up for Swoop Diaz, Best in Costume Design for Zabiel Nemenzo, as well as the Audience Choice Award.
This short film is about the life of a desperate woman who can only show her agony through dance while people looking see her as a “mad woman.”
Picture 3: Tuyaw wins the Jury’s Choice Award.
Under the special citation awards, Tuyaw by Rolando Chavez garnered the Jury’s Choice Award in addition to winning Best Supporting Actor for Aladin Dato, and Best in Musical Score for Lex Chavez.
Tuyaw is about an impoverished father and son working in a farm seeking solace amidst grief, faith, and weariness.
Eight short films were screened for this event from local creatives chosen by the city’s grant program: Tonton by Charlene Mean Tupas, Truth & Dare by Banjo Hinolan, Tililing by Dranreb Cimatu, Balay Alibangbang by Kyle Ramas, Tuyaw by Roland Chavez, Sa Tunga Entablado by Jiane Nicole Flores, We Can Really Only Ever Be One by David Reasol, and Bagong Bayan by Kir Kizziah Hulleza.
This film festival aims to exhibit the stories and experiences of Bacolodnons through film in a way that could connect with a wide audience from across the globe.
The short films were screened from November 27 to 29 through partner cinemas: Cinematheque Centre Negros, SM City Bacolod, and Ayala Malls Capitol Central.
