Before the curtain rises on Alikabok in August 2027, the musical’s next chapter begins in the audition room. Newport World Resorts, in association with Full House Theater Company (FHTC) and Culturtain Musicat Productions, is searching for versatile performers to join the cast of Alikabok, the original Filipino musical featuring music by National Artist Ryan Cayabyab.

It features music by National Artist Ryan Cayabyab and draws inspiration from Juan Luna’s painting La Bulaqueña. The new production opens in August 2027 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater. 

As a Filipino theater company dedicated to showcasing English language productions, Repertory Philippines is bringing back its Shakespearean tradition with the staging of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, ahead of the company’s 90th season. Puregold Teatro Panalo is now searching for original one-act plays and musicals from which selected entries will be professionally staged for its inaugural festival in 2027. Apart from featuring new work, the festival could propel these select few into full-length productions.

This August 28, Areté is set to open Subversive Lives, a theatrical re-telling of the experiences of the Quimpo family during the Martial Law era. Based on the 2012 book Subversive Lives: A Family Memoir of the Marcos Years by Susan F. Quimpo and Nathan Gilbert Quimpo, this story features a family’s sacrifices during a turbulent period in our nation’s history.

The Playbook Club, in cooperation with GetSeatedPH and Madison Events, is set to stage its limited rerun of William Shakespeare’s ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ in August 2026. This is the show’s second staging, following its sold-out run in 2023.
