Dear dreamer, are you feeling like you’re not sure where life is leading you? That is exactly how Joseph felt as life threw one obstacle after another in front of him from the time his brothers sold him into slavery. But through it all, he kept his heart and his mind focused on one thing – that God had a plan, and He would see it through. With one dream, God stepped in and changed Joseph’s life completely. Witness this amazing story of hope, obedience, and faith as Trumpets brings back its iconic musical, Joseph The Dreamer (JTD), for a strictly limited run from November 06 to 22, 2026 at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza.
Wearing the colorful coat as Joseph for this run are two actors – Jordan Andrews and Neo Rivera – who bring with them a stellar resumé of lead and supporting roles in musicals and plays. As a kid, Andrews made his theater debut on Broadway and the West End in Miss Saigon and The King & I. He made his way to Manila, where he was dubbed “The Musical Dream Chaser” during his time at Pinoy Big Brother Season 10: Celebrity Edition, before getting cast in Ang Huling El Bimbo, Tabing Ilog: The Musical, Rent, Shrek The Musical, and most recently, A Chorus Line.
Rivera is a multihyphenate creative who dabbles in the visual arts, photography, and content creation on top of being a gifted actor, singer, and dancer. He worked steadily in theater and film, with lead roles in Going Home To Christmas, and The Quest For The Adarna before taking a short break from the stage. He made his comeback as Fred in A Christmas Carol, and in a highly-praised performance as Phil in this year’s production of On Your Feet! The Story of Emilio and Gloria Estefan.
Both actors followed a similar track when they joined the show, getting cast as Judah, one of Joseph’s brothers, while also alternating as Joseph. They are returning to the role with a stronger connection to the character. “Playing Joseph means being part of a story that might reach someone exactly when they need it,” says Andrews, who first played the role in 2025. “If I’ve done my job right, someone else goes home wearing their own coat of hope, integrity, and forgiveness.”
They follow in the footsteps of spirit-driven actors who have played the role over the years – Audie Gemora, Gary Valenciano, Franco Laurel, Alvin dela Peña, and Sam Concepcion, and take pride in continuing their legacy for a new generation. “Truly, it was God’s hand at work when the opportunity to play this role presented itself,” says Rivera, who went from being understudy in 2020 to alternate in the 2022 run. “Beyond the pressure of living up to our predecessors, what I choose to focus on is bringing my own interpretation of Joseph to life.”
Joining the cast as family patriarch Jacob, Joseph The Dreamer’s other central character, for the 2026 run is award-winning actor Nonie Buencamino. He is one of the country’s preeminent actors of film and stage, he has played some of the most memorable roles in film, television, and theater over the past three decades. On film, these include Felipe Buencamino in the Bayaniverse films Heneral Luna, and Goyo: The Boy General, and Elias in Jose Rizal. In theater, he recently won the Gawad Buhay award for playing three different roles in Balete, and also played Don Quixote in Man From La Mancha. Buencamino brings an immense depth, emotion, and complexity to the character of Jacob, adding yet another layer to how Joseph’s story unfolds in this iteration.
Joseph The Dreamer also stacked its cast with some of the very best of next generation talent, including a number of fresh faces joining the returning cast, for this staging. Iya Villanueva will alternate with Naya Ambi as the Egyptian princess Asenath and JTD’s principal narrator, while Lorenz Martinez is the Pharaoh. Omar Uddin is set to play Potiphar, opposite Dippy Arceo and Jannah Baniasia as Mrs. Potiphar. Rapah Manalo and Boo Gabunada join in as Joseph’s brothers Judah and Reuben, respectively, alongside Luis Marcelo, Renz Bernardo, Sam Panlilio, Anton Posadas, Daniel Solis, Carlos Canlas, Gabo Tiongson, Antonio Valdez, and Matthew Barbers. Liam Nery and Enzo Isaac will be playing Young Joseph / Manasseh.
Vocal powerhouse Julia Serad plays Joseph’s mother Rachel, and sings the show’s moving ballad He Opens A Window. Completing the cast are Justine Narciso, Kathleen Francisco, Gab Concepcion, Jim Ferrer, and Coleen Paz.
The eleventh of 12 sons, Jacob sees greatness in Joseph, and shows his favor upon him. To the chagrin of this brothers. Driven by envy and hatred, Joseph is sold into slavery by his brothers. Little did they know that this seemingly cruel act would take the young man on an extraordinary journey of hope, and trust. Looking back the show’s amazing legacy, Trumpets’ Artistic Director, and the original Joseph, Audie Gemora shares, “Of all the musicals I’ve done, there was only one show that changed my life – that is Joseph The Dreamer. The same goes for everyone who has been part of this show. It reminds us that God truly has a plan for all of us.”
After several successful runs through the ‘90s and 2000s, the musical was reimagined into a show for a new generation of theatergoers, with original direction by Paolo Valenciano, musical direction by Myke Salomon, and choreography by MJ Arda.
Leading the creative team as staging director this run is industry veteran Bernice Aspillaga, who brings with her a wealth of experience, having worked on shows and productions under Trumpets, and Theatre Group Asia, among others. Jim Ferrer is also on board as Assistant Director and Dance Captain, while Jm is Musical Director. “I think it’s time the next generation of theatergoers get to experience JTD, and the powerful story it has to tell,” adds Gemora.
