Pioneer Films Philippines brings “The Drama” to Philippine cinemas this April 4, starring two-time Emmy Award winner Zendaya and acclaimed actor Robert Pattinson in a bold romantic dark comedy from director Kristoffer Borgli (Sick of Myself, Dream Scenario).

Official Synopsis

A happily engaged couple is put to the test when an unexpected turn sends their wedding week off the rails.

“The Drama” follows British expat and museum curator Charlie Thompson (Robert Pattinson) and literary editor Emma Harwood (Zendaya), who meet in a Cambridge café and quickly fall into a whirlwind romance. Head over heels and seemingly perfect for each other, the couple soon finds themselves planning their wedding and a future built on love and certainty.

What begins as a picture-perfect love story takes an unexpected turn when a single, game-changing confession surfaces during a drunken round of “What’s the Worst Thing You’ve Ever Done? ” — a seemingly harmless exchange among friends Rachel (Alana Haim) and Mike (Mamoudou Athie) that fractures the illusion of Charlie and Emma’s relationship, sending the couple into a spiral of doubt, tension, and emotional reckoning just before their “I dos,” as “The Drama” unravels the delicate reality and balance between truth, perception, and love.

“You think you know someone, and they can say literally one sentence that maybe they don’t even realize they are saying,” says Pattinson. “Suddenly everything has changed, and you can’t put the genie back in the bottle.” In “The Drama," that single moment becomes the catalyst for a deeper exploration of trust, morality, and the fragile foundation of relationships.

For Zendaya, the film goes beyond the revelation itself. “This is Kristoffer Borgli’s version of the romantic comedy, asking us how much we’re willing to accept from another person in the name of love,” she shares. “When everything is out on the table between two people, what’s left over in a relationship on the eve of saying ‘I do’?” It's a question that lingers—how much truth can love really hold?

Borgli describes “The Drama” as a story rooted in emotional honesty. “In your closest relationships, you should be able to share everything,” he says, as the film puts that idea to the test between two people deeply in love where the power of love collides with doubt, and feelings begin to clash with reason, leaving them in a crucial dilemma.

Are you ready to share your vows with someone, knowing everything that comes with their past? Or will the weight of truth change the way you love? When everything is laid bare, are you ready to commit, for better or for worse?

Save the date to get to know Charlie and Emma’s story in “The Drama,” coming to Philippine cinemas on April 4th.
