Revisiting ‘Final Wars’: The Party at the King of the Monsters’ Funeral

 For all of ‘Godzilla: Final Wars’ stylistic upheaval, it never stops being tactile and handmade. The suits, miniatures, pyrotechnics and physical collisions are all still there. Ryuhei Kitamura does not modernize the series by sanding away what made it Godzilla in the first place. He takes those old tools and gives them a new swagger and kinetic charge.
