The graduating class of 2026 from the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) will take center stage on June 26, 2026, with “TELON;”, a one-act play with music that reflects on the realities, contradictions, and responsibilities of graduating as an Iskolar ng Bayan.
Set to be performed at the D.L. Umali driveway at 7:30 PM, TELON; is a student-led production spearheaded by student-artists from the graduating class of 2026. The play follows a group of graduating students from a community theater organization as they prepare for their final performance as college undergraduates. Through a play-within-a-play format, the production explores the challenge of continuing to “Serve the People” amid political uncertainty and socio-economic realities beyond the university.
More than a theatrical performance, TELON; serves as a collective undertaking of the graduating class of 2026. The production aims to bring together graduating students through a shared creative endeavor that celebrates their experiences, struggles, and contributions
throughout their university life.
The initiative also seeks to pass on technical theater knowledge and skills to younger student batches, fostering continuity, mentorship, and growth within the university's theater community. In addition, the production hopes to encourage greater participation among graduating students in the graduation rally, highlighting the values of solidarity and collective action that have long been associated with the Iskolar ng Bayan.
As the curtain prepares to close on one chapter of their lives, the graduating class of 2026 invites the university community to witness TELON;, a final performance that reflects on what it means to leave the university while carrying forward its enduring commitment to serve the people.
