After its successful run of Quomodo Desolata Es? Isang Dalamhati last August, Areté is back with a fresh offering for the month of November. Delving into the music of the OPM band, Wolfgang, Nelsito Gomez and Basti Artadi have collaborated to create Si Faust, a rock opera adaptation of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe’s Faust.
Set in a Philippine province ravaged by a plague, Si Faust reimagines Goethe’s Faust through the blistering rock anthems of Wolfgang. A foreign preacher named Faust, disillusioned and broken, makes a desperate deal with the Devil, Mephistopheles, who grants him youth, power, and pleasure. But as Faust’s miracles heal the sick and win him fame, he’s drawn into a doomed love with Marga, an innocent provincial girl whose world—and soul—are torn apart by his fall from grace.
Casted in the titular role is Joseton Vergel de Dios as Faust. Joining him are Maita Ponce as Mephistopheles, Sha-ira Opsimar as Marga, Joshua Cabiladas as Tiño, and Matel Patayon as Martha. MC Dela Cruz, Jam Binay, JV Fulgencio, Thor Ganchero, and Iya Villanueva complete the ensemble.
The show is set to run this November with the following dates:
November 14 | 7:30 PM
November 15 | 2:00 PM & 7:30 PM
November 16 | 2:00 PM & 7:30 PM
November 20 | 7:30 PM
November 21 | 7:30 PM
November 22 | 2:00 PM & 7:30 PM
November 23 | 2:00 PM & 7:30 PM
Catch Si Faust at the Doreen Blackbox Theater in Areté. Tickets are priced at PHP 1,499 for Premium and PHP 999 for Regular seats. Tickets can be bought from https://arete.helixpay.ph/.
