‘Bagets The Musical’ to hold open auditions on July 14 and 15

Be part of the barkada of Bagets The Musical. Auditions are now open for the upcoming stage adaptation of the hit 1984 coming-of-age Filipino film. The iconic barkada from the ‘80s is making a comeback onstage with a fresh generation of young talented performers.
Auditions will be held on July 14 from 1PM to 6PM, and on July 15 from 1PM to 4PM at the PETA Theater Center Studios, Quezon City. Those interested must accomplish the official form on or before July 10 at https://forms.gle/rw1ZytRdzuQ1F2k99. They must also submit their latest CV, a head shot, and a full-body photo. Casting is open to males and females aged 15 to 50 years old who can sing, act, and dance.
Aspirants must prepare 16 bars of a pop ballad, 16 bars of an upbeat 1980s song, and a 16-bar dance routine. Principal roles include Tonton, Adie, Gilbert, Topee, and Arnel, along with ensemble parts portraying classmates, teachers, and family members.
Bagets The Musical is scheduled to run from January 23 to March 2026 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Newport World Resorts. The stage production is a joint production of Viva Entertainment, The Philippine STAR, and Newport World Resorts.

It will then have its limited theatrical run exclusively in SM Cinemas August 26 onwards, via Southeast Asian distributor Abnormal Studios, a subsidiary of Westec Media Limited. Abnormal Studios distributed How To Make Millions Before Grandma Dies.
This July, the CCP Channel features select productions from the Virgin Labfest (VLF), the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival, and the 37th Gawad CCP Para sa Alternatibong Pelikula at Video. Covering different themes and storytelling styles that offer the opportunity to experience stories that reflect the realities, struggles, and aspirations of Filipinos across generations.
