Mad Child Productions to stage Guelan Valera-Luarca original this August

After a successful sold-out run of Trophy Boys last April, Mad Child Productions’ vision continues for their third season, Our Coming of Age, with a lineup of productions led by young directors exploring the mortifying ordeal of finding yourself.

This August, the company is set to stage Mga Binago Ng Araw by Guelan Varela-Luarca, whose recent written and directorial works (3Upuan, Dagitab, Kisapmata, Ang Linangan) continue to receive critical acclaim.

Mga Binago ng Araw is a play with music, a love letter to youth, and a return to memory: first loves, summer pool parties, and the people we leave behind as we inevitably become ourselves. How do the people we love change us? What parts of them do we keep for ourselves when they’re gone?

Jam Binay (Spring Awakening, Next to Normal) and Zoë de Ocampo (Trophy Boys,  Patintero sa Ayala Avenue) lead the cast with Vino Mabalot (Quomodo Desolata Es?, Next to Normal), Maliana Beran (Emilia, Sintang Dalisay), Francesca Dela Cruz (Emilia, VLF’s Sa Babaeng Lahat), and Rafael Jimenez  (The Addams Family, Twelfth Night)

Continuing Mad Child’s commitment to nurturing young voices and creating opportunities for creative risk-taking, the production features a cast and creative team composed largely of emerging artists in the local theatre scene. Monty Uy spearheads the show as Director, with John Lucing (Movement Design), Michelle Cornejo (Composer), Sarah Facuri (Set Design), Jethro Nibaten (Lighting Design), Perine Nyssa Bianzon (Associate Lighting Design), Uriel Tibayan (Sound Design), Sofia Santelices (Costume Design), Teia Contreras and Julia Vaila (Projection Design).

Mga Binago ng Araw will have its limited two-weekend run at the Old Communications Blackbox Theater, Ateneo de Manila University, and will open on August 14, 2026.

Limited early bird tickets are now on sale at PHP 1,500 each and may be purchased at https://tinyurl.com/mcpmbna2026. Blind box pass holders have also been sent an email with instructions on how they may claim their tickets.
